Mom and I have been spending lots of time outside this last week enjoying the unseasonable warm weather. Tonight Mom and I had a smorgasbord of a picnic out on the back patio - grapes, cheese, leftover pumpkin waffles, mac 'n' cheese and peas. Mom said it was a crazy combo but I loved it all. After dinner I was off...
to do some shoveling...
and plundering...
and picking (love these nandina berries).
Spring is definitely upon us as all of the trees and flowers stretch out their limbs, dance in the wind, and celebrate with buds, leaflets, and flowers of joy.
Thacker's redbud
Granny's chickens
Sedum that remind us of Granny's yard
Mom's sultry Roman dude amongst the golden spirea
Dogwoods planted nine years ago
Gramma and Uncle Ernie's "Easter Bushes"
Annalisa's hellebore
Buds of lilac that will erupt into a heady smell that can lure you from the front yard
Beloved candy tuft from the lake
Irises purchased last year from the lady at the Roanoke Farmer's Market - We're thrilled they made it through the winter despite probably not being here to watch them bloom. We'll take it as a sign of things to come.
We're taking all the miracles in, smiling in the fruits of Mom's labor of love over the years, and enjoying our last spring here together at this house.
