An Intro from Mom

On May 12, 2007 closed in the privacy of my bathroom I found out I was pregnant. The weight of knowledge that my life (and most likely my body) would never be the same was overwhelming. I was excited and scared all rolled into one (and still am!)

Thacker will do his best to share with you his adventures. Enjoy!

De-stressing Da Dude

Mom is doing her best to help me adjust to full-time daycare. We're doing some fun things on the weekend and taking long naps. Yesterday we went to Sydney's fifth birthday party at Botetourt Gymnastics. I had a BLAST jumping on the trampoline, swinging from the bar, squishing around on the mats, and chomping on some cheese crackers, fruit and cookie cake. Mom forgot her camera and then forgot to hit save after all but one cellphone pic. Here's the pic. Sydney is sitting in the chair in front of the kids with a pink shirt and no shoes. I refused to let Mom hold me and insisted on sitting on the floor with the big kids. I'm in the lower center of the pic watching to see what cool gift Sydney opens. Thanks Sydney for inviting me to your super fun birthday party!

Mom read recently that walks in green areas (like parks and forests) help improve attention spans and spending time outdoors helps de-stress little dudes like me. Last night after dinner, we went outside and I ran around the backyard, through the footpaths in our garden, around the cars, and back again and again.

Today, Mom, Dad and I hit the Read Mountain Buzzard Rocks trail. Dad had never been so I got to show him the views - downtown Roanoke, Hollins (out by ITT and the industrial parks), and our house. He showed me a 2' long black snake with a golden stripe running down its back wiggling across the top of the leaves. It looked like this. With a little help from Mom and the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, I think we identified what it was with an online snake ID guide - an eastern ribbon snake. We also saw lots of mushrooms, several butterflies, and a stink bug. Despite the heat, Mom and Dad sweated their way to the top while I sat cool as a cucumber in my pack.

Dad and I cooling it at the top.

Snack time on top of Buzzard Rock is always fun. Mom and I doing a little rock climbing

Catch YOU later!
