An Intro from Mom

On May 12, 2007 closed in the privacy of my bathroom I found out I was pregnant. The weight of knowledge that my life (and most likely my body) would never be the same was overwhelming. I was excited and scared all rolled into one (and still am!)

Thacker will do his best to share with you his adventures. Enjoy!

Floyd Country Store

Mom picked me up from Honeytree tonight and we were westward bound. Traffic was bad on the interstate so we cut through town. By the time we made it to the other side of Roanoke County to pick up Patty and Sean, I was snoozing away. It turns out that was a good thing because I used the energy to dance, dance, dance. About 20 miles of windy back roads later, we made it to the Floyd Country Store. This place is legendary and has been running since 1910. Ya'll come on in, take a look around the store, grab yourself a hotdog and some ice cream at the lunch counter, get your sticker so you can dance on the dance floor, then follow-me on up to the stage. Welcome! This band is great. It's compiled of kid musicians - some of them just a few years older than me. Listen with me now and feel free to join me in a little flatfootin'. Though the demographic is changing some, Floyd is made up primarily of farmers and hippies, translation good, honest, down-to-earth folks. I was feeling the love and felt compelled to hug this little girl sitting on the edge of the dance floor. I think I took her by surprise.

After dancing a few songs, we all headed back out onto the street. Here's the great thing about Friday night in Floyd outside of the country store - there's more music!! Sean and I had a couple of good giggles together. Patty gave Sean and I a big hug. We all took a bathroom break and headed back down the mountain. What a great Friday night! I definitely have to do that again!
