An Intro from Mom

On May 12, 2007 closed in the privacy of my bathroom I found out I was pregnant. The weight of knowledge that my life (and most likely my body) would never be the same was overwhelming. I was excited and scared all rolled into one (and still am!)

Thacker will do his best to share with you his adventures. Enjoy!

Putting Down Roots

Despite the heat, Mom and I headed out in my new wagon on Saturday morning bound for the Farmer's Market in Grandin Village. Mom had done a test walk the previous day, so we maximized the use of shade trees and skirted steep hills (except one short one). My cup holder was handy for keeping water nearby, but I went straight for the lemonade at the market. After a refreshing drink, I checked out the selection of local produce. Loaded up with goodies for the week, I popped up my umbrella and licked the remnants of the goat cheese sample on the ride back. Round trip is almost 3.5 miles. Given that it was 90-some degrees outside, the strawberry ice cream we made earlier that morning was super yummy when we got home.

When I went a stroller ride with the dogs and Mom on Sunday evening, I kept suggesting that we cruise back to Farmer's Market. Mom thinks we'll log a good number of miles on that ol' wagon.

Sunday, Mom and I enjoyed yogurt smoothies for breakfast. I had to try out both straws - straight and bendy. Then Mom spotted something outside and we had to take a closer look.

Mom has been sleep deprived this week as she relentlessly watered in the Jasper Red Fescue grass in our backyard at the landscaper's recommended time of 4 a.m. She's not setting an alarm, but her subconscious has her waking up around 4:30 or 5 every a.m. The red fescue will grow to about 8" and stop. Mom's goal is not to mow anything back where it was cleared. For now, the red fescue is a quick and relatively cheap approach to out compete the weeds and save the top soil from massive erosion. Look! We're putting down roots (and they're cute and green)!!
