An Intro from Mom

On May 12, 2007 closed in the privacy of my bathroom I found out I was pregnant. The weight of knowledge that my life (and most likely my body) would never be the same was overwhelming. I was excited and scared all rolled into one (and still am!)

Thacker will do his best to share with you his adventures. Enjoy!

Christmas Festivities

On Wednesday, December 22, Mom picked me up early from daycare and we headed for downtown. We had some business to do. We went to the History Museum of Western Virginia to see Santa!! I listened to his stories, sang along with his songs, moved from the floor, to the bench, to Mom's lap, to the floor, to the bench, to the floor...and asked Santa for a rocket ship. This year is the first time I've gone to see Santa and really gotten my head around what he does. I'd like to report that Santa listens and I did get a rocket ship.  Thank you Santa!

After talking to Santa, Mom and I walked a few blocks, rode up the escalator, walked the pedestrian bridge over the railroad tracks and entered the historic Hotel Roanoke

We got a warm chocolate chip and walnut cookie from the front desk and savored it by the fireplace.

Fueled on a little sugar, we walked around the hotel and enjoyed the beautiful themed Christmas trees on display. Heading for the car, Mom asked if I was hungry. Of course I was! I'm three!! I'm a growing dude!! I pointed to the nearest watering hole and declared it the spot to eat. After rocking out to the B-52's Love Shack and other 80's classics, eating some fries and sharing some juice, we loaded back into the car and headed to the Elks National Home to take in the Christmas lights. Mom did this when she was a kid and she wanted to share the experience with me.

On Christmas Eve, I bit off the head of a gingerbread man while Senna watched in quiet concern. I finished eating my chocolate hearts in my advent calendar and we finished reading the Christmas story.
Just before tucking in for bed, I set out a cookie for Santa. Good thing I did, because he ate it!

I thoroughly enjoyed opening all my gifts this year.

and some goofy time with Uncle Doug.
I was surrounded with love, happiness and the wonderment of the season. I hope you had a merry Christmas too.
