On Saturday afternoon, David, Paul, Mom and I piled into the seat of the ATV and headed up the mountain behind David's cabin. We drove all over the 500+ acres learning about the animals that live up there (bear, mountain lion, coyotes, wolves, snakes, eagles) and finding evidence of times gone by (Civil war posts and foundation stones from an early settlers' home).
We hiked,
enjoyed the views from Maple Knob,
shared a rock, and
peered into a cave. This area is full of karst topography. We dropped a rock in the cave and listened as it bumped off the sides on its way down, down, down. I asked David what lives in there and he said, "Maybe bats." We found Batman's cave!!
