Here I am with a tulip poplar leaf aka yellow poplar. Did you know that tulip poplar is one of the largest and most valuable hardwood tree in the U.S? Mom and I learned this from her Common Native Trees of Virginia book.
I got a close look at clover. This is only a three-leaf clover. Mom said her cousin Mark will have to help me find a four-leaf clover some day. She remembers him finding lots for her in their yard growing up.
Mom says there's nothing like feeling the cool grass between your toes. Is this what she meant?
This is my version of 'Green Man'. (Look him up on wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Man.) This is a twig from our pin oak. Mom and Dad planted this tree when they got married seven years ago. It will grow to be 50 to 70 feet tall and 1' to 2' in diameter. Mom plans to plant a tree this year for me! Maybe I can hang a swing on it someday!
