An Intro from Mom

On May 12, 2007 closed in the privacy of my bathroom I found out I was pregnant. The weight of knowledge that my life (and most likely my body) would never be the same was overwhelming. I was excited and scared all rolled into one (and still am!)

Thacker will do his best to share with you his adventures. Enjoy!

Let's Go Krogering!

Mom and I were up and at 'em this morning. We were excited! The new Kroger supermarket in Bonsack opened a 9 a.m. and we were there by 9:30 after running a few errands. It is WONDERFUL! There are lots and lots of skylights, pretty stained concrete floors, oodles and oodles of organic fruits and veggies, and TWO WHOLE AISLES of natural/organic products plus the usual organic goods sprinkled throughout the store. Mom got me some organic crackers with Cookie Monster on the front of the box. I was so excited to see Cookie Monster with his big googly eyes that I tried to eat the box. Mrs. Leah and Mom's requests to stock the store with lots of organic stuff must have worked. At first glance, Mom did not see much local and organic produce but she will keep asking. Part of the challenge is finding enough local and organic farmers to consistently supply the demand. Kroger is trying http://www.thekrogerco.com/documents/KrogerSustainReport08.pdf Mom will hold their feet to the fire.

For now though, she is excited to see that they carry many of things she's had to trek across town to get like my diapers and her mother's milk tea, or order online like my calendula lotion. She's going to do a little price comparison and see which is better for the pocket book and factor in the carbon footprint. I'm still learning about carbon footprints but I do know MY foot is getting bigger.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot to tell you. I met the Oreo-man. He is life-size and has big googly eyes and was standing right there in Kroger this morning. He waved to me with his white hands. He made me squeal with happiness and kick my little, I mean, BIG feet. I don't know exactly what an Oreo is, but I like its googly eyes (reminded me of the Cookie Monster).
Mom said they did a great job with marketing and branding. I don't know why she would say that?
