Saturday morning I was up and at 'em, devouring some oatmeal,
breaking down the tent,
getting everything on my bike (ok that is not MY bike), and filling up water bottles at the water pump.
We hit the trail. The breezes of bicycling along the trail and smiles were abundant, even when we had to stop, sweat profusely,
and fix my tag-along bike for the third time. Mom promises to remember the right bracket next time...
One of the beauties of following a rail trail is that railroads are often built along rivers where the land is relatively flat. On a day that hit a high of 93F in Lewisburg, WV, we were dumping water on our heads, drinking water profusely, and submersing ourselves in the nearby river frequently.
I LOVED the river!
Did you know that Thermarests make AWESOME floats?
We covered a little over 25 miles each day.
Thankfully Barrett and I did some stretches to keep limber on Saturday night. The picture is a bit fuzzy from lack of light but you get the idea.
Sunday morning was a rare occasion. I slept in. The late night on Friday and the full-day on Saturday had tuckered me out.
Mom hung out with me until I woke up. Then we were at it again.
Once we made it back to the trailhead on Sunday evening, we took a couple of pictures.
Paul, me, and Mom
Meredith, Tony, Barrett, Mom, me, and Paul. Danielle, a.k.a Sweet Girl had to hit the road a little early. Barrett said he would Photoshop her into this picture later.
We rode to here! (from Caldwell to just north of Renick)
The three musketeers (Barrett, Paul, and me). Barrett pulled the trailer and Paul pulled the tag-along.
The paniers are unloaded and I'm practicing some more of my tricks getting ready for our next bicycling adventure!
