An Intro from Mom

On May 12, 2007 closed in the privacy of my bathroom I found out I was pregnant. The weight of knowledge that my life (and most likely my body) would never be the same was overwhelming. I was excited and scared all rolled into one (and still am!)

Thacker will do his best to share with you his adventures. Enjoy!

Lego Birthday Bash

With the widespread power outages, Mom's case of the sickies, and our week of vacation last week, I've gotten a bit discombobulated on the order of my blog posts. That said, please bear with me as I catch you up on an exciting event that happened on June 23rd.

Mom and I crafted some invitations and mailed them out to our anticipated guests. The night before the big event, the kitchen smelled of warm cake as we baked a sheet cake and cupcakes. I helped Mom slice off the tops of the cake and six cupcakes, and was tucked into bed to rest up for the big day.

The next morning I helped Mom set the table with tablecloth and Lego confetti; don the doorways with streamers in red, yellow, and blue; and hang red, yellow, and blue balloons from the walls. (Did you know there is a national shortage on helium? My balloons didn't float to the ceiling, but we still had fun batting them.) The stage was set for my 4-1/2 year old birthday party!!

My guests arrived, we ate lunch, and I voted to delay the cake and ice cream in favor of opening gifts!!
All of the kids helped me open my gifts. (L to R: Matthew, Lena, Bailey, and me)
Even the "older" kids joined in the fun. (L to R: Matthew, Lena, Granny Linda, Granddaddy, me, Bailey, and Sydney). Once the toys were sprung from their respective packages, mayhem ensued.

There were Legos being constructed; Nerf darts flying; and kids of all ages laughing and running.

We finally gathered around the table for cake and ice cream.

Much to my surprise, Mom had turned that flat-topped sheet cake and six cupcakes from the previous night into a Lego cake.

I closed my eyes, made a wish, and blew out all of my 4-1/2 candles. It was yummy and...
it made our tongues blue.
A few guests left and Sydney, Christian, Lena and I gathered around last year's birthday gift for a few minutes of good ol' fashioned sandbox time.
Once all of the kids departed, Paul and I unboxed the Rokenbok lift set and started assembly.
Granny Linda and Granddaddy stuck around to help clean up and get more hugs from me.
I had a great day!  Mom and I extend our thanks to all of my friends and family who made my birthday celebration fun for me.
