Friday morning Mom and I had breakfast (yummy fresh milled toasted wheat bread from Mrs. Leah topped with some concord grape jelly) and hit the road for Floydfest. If you are looking for a cultural experience like none other (based on my vast 19 months of experience), this should definitely be on your list of things to do. The music is awesome - Mom and I danced and danced and danced - and the people watching alone is worth the ticket price.
When we got there, Mom and I headed for Children's Universe. We spent about two hours there playing in the big sandbox, crawling in the rock pit, watching a little show at the Children's Universe stage, and playing in the big wooden ship - complete with a walkway and slide!
The icing on the cake in Children's Universe was my donkey ride. Mom only had her cellphone for pics and she had to hold onto me, but you can kinda get the idea about how happy I was to be riding on the donkey. I laughed and spurred on that donkey so much, I almost slid off! Luckily Mom was there and I learned to hold onto the horn of the saddle for more laps around the ring.
Then it was time for lunch. Mom and I hit the Oddfellas tent and shared a yummy chicken curry wrap, some berry tea, and a peach. To tell the full truth, I ate the WHOLE yummy local juicy peach myself. That was too good to share with Mom.
After lunch we walked down to the Streamline Stage at Hill Holler and listened to William Walter & Co. They're a Charlottesville-based band and we were diggin' 'em. I kicked off my shoes, chilled out in Mom's lap, munched on a few fruity bunnies (see above) and enjoyed the show.
Mom snapped this shot (note my mouth is full of fruity bunnies) before we headed back to the Blue Ridge & Beyond Dance Tent to hear the Mad Tea Party. The music was great and the people watchin' even better, but I couldn't do it any longer and passed out for a nap in the backpack for a good hour.
Mom's cellphone battery died so we have no pics from the rest of the day, but I hope to get some pics from my friend, Naomi, that I'll be sure to share with you. Naomi, her mom, and dad met up with us after the Mad Tea Party and we spent the rest day with them - catching a bit of the Luminescent Orchestrii, veggin' at Naomi's campsite with some Dogtown Pizza brick oven harvest pizza (YUM!), and topping off the day with lots of dancing at the Dreaming Creek Main Stage listening to Grupo Fantasma.
